OUR STORY

Daniel and Alvaro have been business partners since 1998, founding their first entrepreneurial firm focused on information strategy and digital design. Their journey began in architecture school, where, after transferring from the departments of industrial engineering and music, they embraced a systems-thinking approach towards problem-solving, integrating knowledge from various fields.

 

In 2002, Alvaro moved to the US to broaden his business expertise, working first at a real estate development firm. He earned a master’s degree in real estate investment and finance and later worked for private equity real estate funds in the US and Mexico. Meanwhile, Daniel continued his career in the telecommunications sector, actively participating in corporate restructuring transactions, leading a venture capital incubator, and as a manger in a private equity firm investing in Latin American markets.

 

Following a decade of corporate and private equity work experience, Alvaro and Daniel ventured into the Colombian real estate market in 2012. They identified the rise of an institutional capital market within a fragmented property landscape. Their observation revealed that existing firms failed to deliver services at the caliber of international standards, and their compensation structures were not consistently aligned with the best interests of property owners.

 

Seeing an opportunity, they founded BASE Property Group in 2013, believing that long-term asset value requires a deep understanding of the real estate system and active management. BASE employs a holistic systems-thinking approach to identify key value drivers in its investment structures, always prioritizing the interests of property owners and users. The firm integrates professional management services to align with owners’ goals.

  • Founded in 2023, Latin American Real Estate Vehicles (LAREV) is a regional organization for investors and professional managers in the real estate investment industry. LAREV aligns regional investment and reporting standards in real estate, alongside its global peers NCREIF, INREV, ANREV, to promote international best practices and consistent disclosure of investment information. LAREV advocates for a neutral perspective that prioritizes the interests of the industry as a whole over any particular stakeholder interests. LAREV aspires to become a center of knowledge and a centralized repository of real estate investment data for the region to enhance both the quality and quantity of information available for the sector.

  • Founded in 1982, the National Council of Real Estate Fiduciaries (NCREIF) is a member-driven, not-for-profit association focused on US markets. NCREIF aims to enhance knowledge in the private real estate investment industry by providing transparent and consistent data, performance measurement, analytics, standards, and education. The organization is committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive culture to advance industry transparency, best practices, and professionalism. For more than 40 years, NCREIF has played a pivotal role in defining the highest standards for industry information infrastructure and fiduciary responsibility.

  • Founded in 2012, ColCapital is the Colombian Private Equity Association, with a focus on fostering, developing, and promoting the Private Equity Funds industry in Colombia. Its objective is to be the transformative, facilitating, and coordinating agent of this industry, acting as a catalyst for collective savings and economic growth, under the highest standards of management. ColCapital aims to achieve this mission through the common representation of its members and the consideration of the interests of all industry stakeholders.

  • Founded in 1907, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International is a federation of U.S. local associations and global affiliates. For over 100 years, BOMA has been the leading trade association for commercial real estate property management, representing owners, managers, service providers, and other property professionals across all commercial building types—office, industrial, healthcare, corporate, and mixed-use. BOMA International is leading institution serving individuals in the real estate property management industry, helping them maximize the value for their careers, organizations, and assets. The organization’s mission is to advance a vibrant commercial real estate industry through advocacy, influence, and knowledge.

  • Founded in 1948, the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is a US not-for-profit association dedicated to improving the communication of construction information through continuous development and transformation of standards and formats. The organization focuses on the education and certification of professionals to enhance project delivery processes. CSI members work tirelessly to effectively communicate the designers’ vision, the material producers’ solutions, and the constructors’ techniques to create outstanding facilities that meet the objectives of facility owners.

  • Alvaro Jaramillo

    Alvaro Jaramillo is a founding member of BASE Property Group and, as Managing Director, he shares the firm’s executive and leadership functions. He focuses on investment management, financial structuring, and advisory services. Before joining BASE, he held the position of Vice President of DTZ Rockwood/RCIM (2007-2013), where he played an active role in the investment and management of the ING/Clarion Partners Lion Mexico Fund, as well as structuring a separately managed investment vehicle for AIMCo in Mexico.

  • Daniel Rodriguez

    Daniel Rodriguez is a founding member of BASE Property Group and, as Managing Partner, he shares the firm’s executive and leadership functions. He focuses on investor relations, identifying new business opportunities and real estate development management. Prior to joining BASE, he served as CEO of Grupo Veremonte (2011-2013), overseeing investments in Brazil and Colombia. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in the acquisition and re-structuring of Grupo Amper (Spain).

  • Lida Rodríguez

    Lida Rodriguez joined BASE Property Group in 2015. In her current role as Operations Director she is responsible for the firm’s asset management activities, tenant relations, and oversight of the property management team, and a third-party staff of over 50 individuals. Lida actively participates in operational budgeting for new development projects and provides advisory services for our clients.

    Maria Adelaida Ramirez joined BASE Property Group in 2021 as Development Director. She is responsible for the financial structuring, coordination of pre-construction activities, and capital sourcing for the ground-up development of a 154,000 M2 project, the first phase of a master planned mixed-use complex known as Cafam Floresta Ciudad Central. Additionally, Maria Adelaida actively participates in the financial evaluation of new development projects and providing advisory services to our clients.

  • Luis Ernesto Alvarez

    Luis Ernesto Alvarez joined BASE Property Group in 2023 as Construction Director. He is responsible for project management, including coordination of technical design activities, construction budgeting and procurement planning for the construction of a 154,000 M2 project, the first phase of a master planned mixed-use complex known as Cafam Floresta Ciudad Central. Additionally, Luis Ernesto oversees in the technical aspects of projects led by BASE’s development team and provides advisory services to our clients.

  • Juan David
 Hernández

    Controller & General Accountant

    Juan David Hernandez joined BASE Property Group in 2022 as Controller and General Accountant. In his current role, he oversees the accounting processes for all special purpose real estate vehicles managed by BASE on behalf of its clients, and acts as the general accountant for the company. Juan David is responsible for coordinating tax reporting information with our clients’ accounting teams and third-party advisors. Additionally, he leads innovation projects within the company, focusing on enhancing accounting procedures with ERP software and information integration with real estate industry-specific operational platforms.
